CLEVELAND - More than a third of Americans are planning to travel this weekend for Memorial Day, and the top five most likely destinations for Clevelanders have been revealed.
According to TripAdvisor, 34 percent of U.S. travelers surveyed are planning to go somewhere this holiday. This number is up from 26 percent last year.
Here are some stats revealed by TripAdvisor’s survey:
- 70% will get to their destinations by car
- 27% of those traveling by car will drive between 100 and 200 miles
- 17% will drive more than 500 miles to their getaway spot
TripAdvisor also pulled data from people in northeast Ohio using its site to see which cities they searched most:
1) Sandusky, OH
2) Niagra-on-the-Lake, Ontario
3) Port Clinton, OH
4) Niagra Falls, NY
5) Erie, PA
For the summer, TripAdvisor’s survey found that 86 percent of those surveyed plan to take a leisure trip, compared to 81 percent last year.
