CLEVELAND - Time is running out to take advantage of bargain airfares. Southwest Airlines and AirTran have dropped round-trip airfares to less than $80 on their shortest routes but you have to book your flight by Thursday.

A number of other short routes are available for less than $100 round trip. Longer trips also are available for less than $130 round trip -- but the sub-$100 fares are only found on short hops.

The sales cover winter travel through February, but holidays are exempt. The fares appear to be lowest on Tuesday and Wednesdays.

Some of the cheapest round-trip flights on Southwest include: Oakland to Las Vegas for $77, Los Angeles to Las Vegas for $77, Baltimore to Boston for $84, San Diego to Phoenix for $92, and Atlanta to Denver for $127.

The cheapest round-trips fares for AirTran include Akron/Canton to New York for $90, Boston to Baltimore for $90, Tampa to Atlanta for $90 and Milwaukee to Washington D.C. for $148.
