NEWTOWN, Conn. - Clergy in Newtown, Conn., are offering what comfort they can to a community still in shock over the shooting a week ago Friday that killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

At Sunday Mass, Monsignor Robert Weiss of Newtown's St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church said hearts "will be broken again on Christmas morning" when the victims are not there to open their gifts. He urged worshippers to pray for hope, healing and peace this Christmas.

At Trinity Episcopal Church, the Rev. Kathleen Adams-Shepherd read the names of those who were killed and offered a prayer for all of them, including gunman Adam Lanza and his mother, Nancy.

The Rev. Matthew Crebbin of Newtown Congregational Church hoped that amid the sorrow this Christmas, residents can "strengthen connections to each other."
