BOONE, N.C. - It's not even Halloween yet, but the Rev. Franklin Graham says it's time to begin thinking about packing gifts to send overseas for this year's Operation Christmas Child.
Graham told KTIS radio that the shoeboxes packed with small toys, school supplies and other useful items will be collected a month from now for distribution to about nine million children in 100 countries.
The evangelist encourages Christians to enclose a note to the child who will receive the box, and to pray that their gifts will communicate the true meaning of Christmas to children and their families.
Graham says Operation Christmas Child now includes a discipleship program that already has reached about two million children.
