JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. - A southern Indiana church whose pipe organs have been destroyed by fire and rain is auctioning off sheet music that songwriter James Taylor donated.
A charity auction website started is taking bids on the autographed sheet music of Taylor's song "Fire and Rain" that he gave to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Jeffersonville.
Co-pastor Don Hill says the church's original 1894 pipe organ was destroyed by the Great Flood of 1937. A 1981 fire destroyed its replacement, along with the church's parish hall, and damaged its sanctuary.
The Victorian-style church will use money it raises from auctioning off the sheet music and other fundraising efforts to restore and install a donated pipe organ as part of a church restoration that began three years ago.
