PITTSBURGH - Members of the Christian band Sanctus Real are unhurt after their tour bus caught fire and was consumed by flames before dawn Sunday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Bass player Dan Gartley says the bus driver spotted the flames in his side mirror and quickly pulled over, awakened band members, their wives and children and rushed them all off the bus.
The vehicle was soon ablaze along with all of their personal belongings, including laptop computers, cell phones and wallets. But a trailer containing the band's equipment escaped serious damage.
Gartley says they thank God that no one was hurt and that their equipment was undamaged, and he says Sanctus Real will continue to play its scheduled shows, starting this weekend in Atlanta.
