CLEVELAND - To be an adventurer and travel the open road. Many of us dream
of that, but few of us actually seize the day like Brian Brawdy.
"Ever since I was a little boy I wanted to be an astronaut, and I
wanted my sense of a spaceship. It didn't take me too long to
figure out my right stuff, wasn't the right stuff that NASA
wanted," Brian said.
He may not be in the space program, but he has a spaceship of
sorts: his so-called "Green RV." On top of his RV are 6 solar
panels and a wind turbine to provide energy for all the amenities,
which includes his own weather radar, a microwave, a refrigerator,
stove, and oven.
He even has contraptions to capture the rain water, which is
used for everything from bathing and brushing his teeth to drinking
and cooking.
The engine runs on bio-diesel fuel, but Brian wants to
reconfigure it so it will run on vegetable oil. Brian plans to
visit 49 states, skipping Hawaii, and he only has six states left.
It's been the trip of a lifetime, even if it's not on a space
ship. "It may not have gotten me to the moon, but it's gotten me
everywhere in between", Brain said smiling.
