CLEVELAND - Chef Michael Symon helped put Cleveland on the map as an iron chef on the Food Network. Sunday night, another Cleveland chef showed off his stuff.
Jonathon Sawyer, owner of Greenhouse Tavern and Noodlecat restaurants in downtown Cleveland, competed on "Iron Chef America."
Guests gathered for a watch party at his restaurants to see Chef Sawyer take on Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian in "Battle: Mint."
This isn't Sawyer's first time on the show. In 2007, he appeared as a "sous chef" for Michael Symon -- his mentor and employer at the time.
It helped him to win a competition and become an iron chef.
"It's an honor for us to be able to represent Cleveland and represent our restaurant on a national level,” said Sawyer. “Iron Chef is a phenomenal show and I've watched it my entire life and it's an honor to be a part of it."
In the end, Sawyer and his team lost to the Iron Chef.
