MENTOR, Ohio - The poor economy is to blame for Potpourri Fondue Restaurant in Mentor closing its doors after being in business 35 years.
Over the past 10 days since the announcement was made, the restaurant has been packed, the owner tells NewsChannel5. Owner Kevin Debernardi is saddened by the closing . He says that " There are a lot of good restaurants here in Mentor and there is only so much to go around."
Missy McGonnell has been coming here a couple of times a week for years. " We will grab a cheese and a beer or they will cook for us. It's a shame we couldn't get the word out sooner."
After Potpourri serves its last Mother's Day customer May 12 at 8 p.m. the business will officially be closed.
Patch.com reports the business has been up for sale, but the DeBernardi family has yet to find a buyer.
