CLEVELAND - It's a question that has many different answers. Who has the best ice cream in northeast Ohio?
Chris Flanagan posed that question on his Facebook page and his Facebook friends ate it up. Chris had the sweet task of finding out the scoop in Flanagan's 5 Things.
At number five, Sweet Moses on Detroit Avenue in Cleveland. It's located in Gordon Square on the city's west side. It's named after Cleveland founder, Moses Cleveland. It's known for its old-fashioned soda fountain and ice cream sundaes.
During the dog days of summer Handel's Ice Cream is a family favorite. It comes in at number four. The ice cream company was founded in Youngstown in 1954 and is a summer staple.
Number three is Mitchell's Ice Cream. Mitchell's was founded in 1999 by brothers Pete and Mike Mitchell.
The buzzing bee at the Honey Hut sign is a sure sign of summer. All their ice cream is made of honey. The family-owned chain has been a sweet tooth favorite since 1974.
Technically it is not ice cream, but the voting was so overwhelming we had to include East Coast Original Frozen Custard. It was voted number one by our Facebook friends. It was started in Parma Heights in 1985 and now has five locations throughout northeast Ohio.
