LARGO, Md. - A 23-year-old woman said she was disqualified for a job at an amusement park because she wears her hair in locks.
Janet Bello said the supervisor told her management at Six Flags in Largo, Md., is adhering to a company grooming policy and that dreadlocks is considered an extreme hairstyle.
Another woman, 60, said she worked for Six Flags last year but was asked not to come back this year because of her "locks."
The American Civil Liberties union said it has nothing against general corporate grooming policies, but they do believe that defining locked hair as unprofessional is racially insensitive at best, and potentially discriminatory at work.
