CLEVELAND - Just when you think Canadian rock group Rush can do no more, the magnificent power trio always seems to come up with something fresh and new, taking our senses to another level of appreciation for the well-known rockers.

On Tuesday, the new 20th studio album "Clockwork Angels" hit store shelves nationwide. The group, consisting of bassist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer/lyricist Neil Peart, have put together 12 new songs to feed loyal Rush fans' appetite.

Cleveland will again be a chosen spot to perform at when Rush begins their tour. The Q arena will be rocking to Rush Oct. 28, a site that recently played host to Rush. Back on April 15, 2011, Rush brought their "Time Machine Tour" there, recording it all for a CD/DVD release last November.

Cleveland has always been good to Rush. It was the first American city to give the trio radio air play back in 1974. Many folks think they should be a shoe in as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recipients.

I just gave the CD a quick listen and my first impression dubs it a masterpiece. The album is overall hard-edged and driven. "Caravan" and "BU2B" were already released before the album came out, and they are the two best songs on the album. Both are powerful, fast and lay down that hard rock feel.

"Clockwork Angels" is the longest song on the CD with a mellow beginning, but the pace picks up very quickly. Neil's tom-toms get you going. Surprisingly, there is no instrumental-only song on the CD.

Songs "Halo Effect" and "The Garden" are the most serene and mellow of the bunch, with "Garden" involving strings and piano. The song encompasses love and respect.

That's what makes this group so amazing! Great musicianship, great lyrics, classy with great ethics and morals. I will be at The Q to see them live Oct. 28 and I hope to see you there, too. I can tell you it's always a fantastic show.
