CLEVELAND - An online auction beginning Wednesday gives bidders the chance to be named on "Walk of Fame" plaques in Cleveland for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 1992 inductees.
The Rock Hall is having plaques resembling records installed around downtown sidewalks to honor inductees and attract fans.
The Plain Dealer reports the hall and New York-based Gotta Have It! Collectibles Inc. have partnered to let winning bidders be listed as presenters on the bronze plaques for the 11 members of the 1992 class. They included the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Johnny Cash and the Isley Brothers.
The bids start at $5,000. An auction company spokesman says the money helps support the return of the induction ceremony to Cleveland every few years.
The auction also includes other music-related memorabilia.
