CLEVELAND - Don't want to just sit on the couch and watch the Oscars? Want to enjoy a red carpet, black tie affair with drink, food, and dozens of screens to watch the big show on?

Cleveland's Pickwick & Frolic is playing host to the fifth annual "Road to the Red Carpet" on Sunday, Feb. 24; an event to benefit the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.

Guests will walk the red carpet on East 4th Street, enter Pickwick & Frolic, and enjoy classy cocktails, lavish hor d'oeuvres and get to watch the Academy Awards on dozens of screens throughout the building.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Greater Cleveland Film Commission. That's the organization responsible for bringing movies to Cleveland to be filmed.

Event co-chair Lisa Mullin explained why raising funds for the film commission is so important.

She told NewsChannel5, "We are the ones responsible for bringing movies into town, shooting here, hiring local people, local vendors, local merchants.".

This is the Greater Film Commission's only real fundraiser. Thanks to the money raised at these events, it continues to have the resources to help convince directors and producers to film movies in Cuyahoga County. Last year, seven movies filmed here.

Mullin told us why Hollywood loves coming to Cleveland, saying, "We have such great cities, great neighborhoods, and we have this big beautiful lake."

The evening will also boast a silent auction where items will be on display and available. Some of the auction items include a site visit to ABC's hit show, "Modern Family", and tickets to the Hollywood premiere of "The Lone Ranger," starring Johnny Depp.

Tickets to the event cost $250 a piece and can be purchased online at " www.roadtotheredcarpet.com ." You can head over there to bid on those auction items without leaving home. You can also call 216-509-4411 for more details about the "Road to the Red Carpet" event.
