Pregnant Shakira speaks at father's book launch

Heavily pregnant singer SHAKIRA showed her support for her writer father as he launched his new book in Spain on Monday (14Jan13).

The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker, who is expecting a baby with Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique, turned the spotlight on her dad William Mebarak Chadid as he unveiled his book Al Viento Y Al Azar at the Casa del Libro shop in Barcelona.

Shakira, who wrote the foreword to the tome, even gave a speech to gush about her father, insisting he is a superstar in her native Colombia.

She said, "My son is going to have a great example: a grandfather who has many stories to tell. In (my hometown) Barranquilla, my dad isn't 'Shakira's father' but rather I'm the daughter of William, and he's the best father life could possibly have given me. My cornerstone, my best friend, not only in my career but in my life."

The presentation was a real family affair - Shakira attended the event with Pique and his parents, as well as her mother Nidia Ripoll and brother Tonino.
