Movie star MARK WAHLBERG is recovering after having a in-grown toe nail yanked out.

The Fighter star has been battling the pain since before Christmas (12) and he finally decided to have the nail removed during a recent trip home to Boston, Massachusetts this week (beg14Jan13).

He says, "The thing was just growing the wrong way... and the guy, Mickey O' Keefe, who played himself in The Fighter, his daughter-in-law, thank God, is a podiatrist (and she) came and cut half my toenail off."

But instead of resting up, Wahlberg had to hop on a plane and fly back to his adopted Los Angeles to promote his new movie Broken City - in a snowstorm.

He adds, "I jumped on a plane... and there was two-and-a-half inches of snow (on the ground) and it was very bumpy... I'm feeling the pain."

The actor showed off his bandaged foot during a taped interview with TV host Ellen DeGeneres, which aired on her show on Thursday (17Jan13).
