Pop superstar MADONNA pledged her support to President BARACK OBAMA on Thursday (06Sep12) by performing her concert in New York with his name inked on her lower back.
The Material Girl has previously had the words 'No Fear' temporarily stencilled onto her back for her MDNA world tour, but she decided to switch it up this week (ends09Sep12) by displaying new skin art spelling out 'Obama' when she hit the stage at Yankee Stadium. Madonna's stunt came on the same night the incumbent leader officially accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president at the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina.
During the show, Madonna also spoke of her gratitude to be an American citizen after seeing the plight of Russian punk stars Pussy Riot, who were imprisoned for two years after performing a protest song against President Vladimir Putin in a church earlier this year (12).
She told the audience, "It made me realize how lucky I am to be living here in America. Thank God for Michelle Obama and her good-looking husband too. We are free. Do not, do not, do not take this freedom for granted because if you do for one second, you will lose it."
Obama will go up against Republican Party candidate Mitt Romney when the U.S. goes to the polls in November (12).
