Actress KELLY RUTHERFORD has opened up about her split from ex-husband DANIEL GIERSCH, insisting she chose to end their marriage over his friendships with other women.

The Gossip Girl star was left devastated last month (Aug12) when she lost her bid to have her two children - Hermes, five, and Helena Grace, three - returned to the U.S. from France, where they spent the summer (12) with their German businessman father Giersch.

Rutherford is still struggling to come to terms with the ruling, telling the New York Post, "I'm living a mother's worst nightmare," and now the pain of missing her kids has prompted the 43 year old to reflect on her ill-fated marriage to their dad.

The actress filed for divorce while pregnant with Giersch's unborn daughter in January 2009, just two years after they tied the knot, and now she has explained the cause of their break-up.

Rutherford tells the publication, "(I left) because there were other women. I found him e-mailing one night, saying he was sorry he couldn't meet up. I was only married to him for just over two years. You don't see it coming, you think something's wrong with you."
