FLORENCE WELCH's father offered to perform with the British rocker at a gig on Thursday (08Nov12) after her drummer became locked in a toilet cubicle.
Chris Hayden flew into a panic when he found himself trapped backstage at London's Rivoli Ballroom just moments before Florence + The Machine was due to kick off the show.
Welch's dad Nick volunteered to fill in for Hayden, but venue staff managed to rescue the drummer just in time.
The singer tells The Scotsman newspaper, "I didn't know whether to say it on stage because I didn't want to embarrass him, but he got trapped in the loo (toilet cubicle). He was screaming.
"He got really freaked out. We could hear him trying to bash the door down, and they had to take the door off its hinges, so my dad did offer to stand in. But he did escape."
