R&B superstar BEYONCE took to the stage at the United Nations' (U.N.) headquarters in New York on Friday (10Aug12) to perform her World Humanitarian Day anthem.

The Crazy In Love hitmaker has teamed up with U.N. officials to launch the initiative, set for 19 August (12), which encourages people to give back by getting involved in charity ventures.

She has allowed U.N. chiefs to use her track I Was Here to mark the global event, and on Friday she headed to the organisation's General Assembly Hall in New York City for a special event.

Newsman Anderson Cooper hosted the evening and joked to guests, "Is this what happens at the U.N. every Friday night? Because, I've gotta tell you... I wanna be here every Friday night if this goes on."

Beyonce then performed her song, and told the crowd, "I'd like to ask everyone to make sure they're a part of August 19th. It's such a beautiful, beautiful day... God bless you all. Thank you so much for having me."
