ROBERT PATTINSON struggled to keep his cool while getting a hair cut in new movie COSMOPOLIS because the actor who played his barber almost cut off his ear.

In the movie, the British hunk portrays a suave billionaire financier, traveling across New York City's midtown Manhattan in a bid to get a hair cut.

But, despite firing a gun and shooting several sex scenes for the project, the Twilight star admits sitting down for a trim with co-star George Touliatos was the hardest - because he feared he would lose a body part.

During an interview with MTV.com, Pattinson explained, "The guy (Touliatos) is obviously not a barber, and he was acting as well with a huge pair of scissors, and he had to cut so close to the skin. He almost cut my ear off.

"That was kind of frightening, especially when I'm supposed to be this savant that's not (fazed)."
