Country rockers ALABAMA are hitting the high seas next year (13) to celebrate their 40th anniversary.

The Tennessee River hitmakers played their first gig at the Bowery in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1973 and now they are planning to mark the milestone by setting sail with their most dedicated fans next autumn (13) as part of the Festival at Sea.

A post on the band's official website reads, "As this year comes to a close, we look back on all the memories with you and feel humbled and blessed to still be doing what we love as a band. Next year will mark the 40th anniversary of our first show at the Bowery in Myrtle Beach, and we feel like the best way to celebrate is to invite all of you, our most dedicated, supportive, and passionate fans to join us on a cruise!

"Think four or five days, warm weather, beaches, unique shows from us, shows from some of our favorite bands, and a few special surprises along the way.

"While we are still figuring out all the details, we hope you will plan to join us next October for the biggest Alabama celebration yet. We are blown away by our fans each and every day, and can't wait to celebrate our 40-year journey together next Fall. Happy New Year to you and your family!"
