Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates love in music with 5 Days of Valentines

CLEVELAND - All you need is love! It's a running theme in rock music, and this week the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum gives visitors a big Valentine with some of the most special love stories in its collection.

Doc Pomus can truly be called one of the inventors of rock and roll. Pomus (aka: Jerome Felder) was one of the most prolific and successful songwriters of the genre, penning such hits as "This Magic Moment," "A Teenager In Love," "Viva Las Vegas," and "Turn Me Loose." But the story behind one of his greatest songs will really get to you:

Pomus was struck by polio as a young man. When he married Wilma Burke in 1957, he could not dance with his bride. Imagine the scene as he watched her dance without him. It was then he wrote a lyric on their wedding invitation. That lyric eventually became "Save The Last Dance For Me," recorded by The Drifters.

Those handwritten lyrics join many other objects in the Rock Hall's collection that give you a glimpse into a love story from an earlier era. They are all celebrated this week in #LOVEROCKS: 5 Days of Valentine's Day at the Rock Hall.

There is a shopping bag from Hank and Audrey's Corral, a western wear retail store Hank Williams and his wife Audrey started in Nashville. Neither the store - or the marriage - lasted.

One of the most valuable items in the museum is John Lennon's Gibson J 160-E  acoustic guitar. When he married Yoko Ono, they celebrated their honeymoon with "bed-ins" in Amsterdam and Montreal. Lennon carved their images onto the face of the guitar to commemorate the events, and it is the same guitar that was used to record "Give Peace A Chance."
