CLEVELAND - Here are a few family-friendly weekend events in Northeast Ohio along with the Power of 5 forecast.
Mutt Strut
Support the Lake Humane Society this Saturday at the 18th annual Mutt Strut in Mentor. Bring your dog for a fun-packed day, including a 1 mile walk, games, K9 contests, prize raffles, an agility course, food, shopping and much more. The event runs 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If you raise $20 or more in pledges, admission is free. Otherwise, admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children. See the website for fundraising information. You may have to wipe wet paws with scattered showers in the forecast! Expect on-and-off showers under mostly cloudy skies. Highs will hover near 73 degrees.
Tuscarawas County Italian-American Festival
Celebrate all things Italian in Dover Friday through Sunday at the 24th annual Italian-American Festival. Friday events include the Mayor's Breakfast at Tuscarawas Central Catholic Elementary School and live music Friday evening. Saturday will feature a pizza and spaghetti eating contest, grape stomping and judging for the best wine and spaghetti sauce. Enjoy mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Sunday followed by a day packed with live music and fun! The forecast calls for scattered showers Friday with highs in the mid-70s. A few showers are possible Saturday, with clearing Sunday. Highs will eventually climb to 80 degrees.
North Ridgeville Corn Festival
It's all about kernels at the 38th annual North Ridgeville Corn Festival. Grounds open at 6 p.m. Friday and a fantastic fireworks display is set for 10:30 p.m. The fun continues Saturday with a 10K, 5K and 1 mile fun run at 9 a.m. Don't miss the car show and corn eating contest Saturday afternoon. Great live entertainment is scheduled Saturday evening. The cornhole tournament and parade take place Sunday afternoon. Widely scattered showers are possible Friday evening with temperatures near 70 degrees. The threat for passing showers continues Saturday, but expect clearing skies Sunday with a high near 78 degrees.
Downtown Fun Fest
Come to Stark County for the Downtown Massillon Fun Fest this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. You'll enjoy family arts, health, safety, learning and fun. Games, magicians, puppets, music, art, animals and dancing will keep kids entertained for hours! Don't let the chance of scattered showers get in your way. Temperatures will be perfect for the outdoors Saturday. Expect highs in the mid-70s under mostly cloudy skies.
Orrville Rib and Music Fest
If you're searching for delicious food in Wayne County this Friday and Saturday, head to the Orrville Rib and Music Fest! In addition to the rib burn-off, there is a chicken BBQ, car show, arts and crafts, kids activities and great live bands. The festival runs 5-10 p.m. Saturday and noon-10 p.m. Saturday. Passing showers are possible Friday evening with temperatures in the low 70s. Mostly cloudy skies and cool temperatures continue Saturday with possible showers.
