CLEVELAND - February is Black History Month, and one Cleveland man contributed to a significant part of it.
79-year-old Charles Pinkney is an artist who can not only paint on canvas, but snap art with a camera.
As Pinkney learned how to take pictures, it helped him become the first African-American photojournalist for the Pittsburgh Press in 1979.
"Being the first made me pursue excellence," explained Pinkney. "I wanted to show that we were excellent and that we could do as good or better."
Pinkney said one of his most exciting memories is when he saw a picture that he shot of the Larry Holmes-Jerry Coone fight in Las Vegas on the front page of the Pittsburgh Press.
