MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio - "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" star Ty Pennington has been away from the Maple Heights construction site in recent days and that's because he was in Moorhead, Minnesota.
Ty was there Monday to conduct the 'door knock' and start recording with the next family chosen to receive a home makeover.
The Grommesh family in Minnesota was surprised by Ty and designers Paul DiMeo, Paige Hemmis and Eduardo Xol at a sled hockey game.
We're told Ty will fly back to Cleveland for Tuesday's scheduled 'Move That Bus' reveal in Maple Heights.
newsnet5.com has also learned that the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" bus drove to Minnesota over the weekend, and will zoom back for Tuesday's unveiling. Yes, there is only one 'Extreme bus'.
Sources tell us that this is the normal production schedule for the show, as projects are staggered to overlap so Ty can be in two places at once--almost.
Back in Moorhead, right outside of Fargo, North Dakota, the current Grommesh home was jacked up and rolled away on Monday -- enabling construction to begin on a new handicapped-accessible home for Bill and Adair Grommesh and their children Garrett and Peighton.
9-year-old Garrett Grommesh was born with spina bifida and uses a wheelchair.
His sister, Peighton, 11, has Axenfeld-Reiger’s syndrome -- a pancreatic enzyme deficiency.
The Minnesota project is scheduled to be completed in the usual 106 hours that is the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" standard.
The next destination for the show has not yet been announced. Locations are kept secret until the moment of the 'door knock' surprise.
