CLEVELAND - The movie "The Avengers" will open in theaters nationwide May 4, but northeast Ohio sliver-screen lovers will not have to wait that long.
The Greater Cleveland Film Commission told newsnet5.com that details are being finalized with Disney's Marvel Studios for a special advanced screening of the action thriller.
Much of the production, including the movie finale, was shot in downtown Cleveland and surrounding areas.
While other cities battle it out on "The Avengers" Facebook page for an advance viewing in their community, Cleveland can sit back and relax knowing that their early premiere is guaranteed.
"It's great that they (Marvel Studios) are willing to do this for our community and that they had such a great experience here that hopefully we'll be able to welcome them to our community again," said Greater Cleveland Film Commission Executive Director Ivan Schwarz.
Albuquerque, N.M., will also receive an advanced screening due to filming that took place there as well.
