CLEVELAND - NewsChannel5 is losing some of its shine. Well, sort of. Workers spent the day stripping wax off of the studio floor as we prepare to move into our new studio in early September.
The white liquid you see in the picture is not soap. It's wax. The crew said there is probably 15 to 20 layers of wax on the floor. They estimate it will take them two full days to completely strip the floor.
The first thing they do to remove the wax is mix a stripper solution with water, then mop it on the floor and let it soak for about a half hour. They use a wet vacuum soak up as much of the wax as possible. They also use a buffer to strip the wax.
Once the wax is completely stripped, the crew will then apply a fresh coat of wax to the floor. Then we will be shining once again.
