CLEVELAND - NewsChannel5 is abuzz with word that our new set will arrive sometime next week. The update doesn't mean we are remotely close to using our set though. A lot of work still needs to be done before we get to that point. But, it's exciting to think our empty shell of a studio will begin to take shape soon.
In the meantime, the only evidence of what once existed is our old green Chroma Key screen used for weather. As you probably know, Mark Johnson, Christine Ferreira, Jason Nicholas and Trent Magill stand in front of a green screen, allowing the maps to be used behind them on-air. The process removes the studio background and allows another image to appear.
Right now, engineers have the tedious task of re-wiring the light dimmers in the studio. Hundreds of them, in fact. In the pictures, you can see what an empty studio looks like and empty dimmer boxes. And it shows you just how much work still needs to be done.
Hats off to our crew. Their hard work has kept us on the air during this huge transition. The fun part is just around the corner. Can't wait to see that new set!
