CLEVELAND - Often times when I walk into the newsroom and make my way to my desk I immediately smell the fresh flowers on Danita's desk. We sit about four feet from each other.
On Tuesday, it wasn't flowers, but the smell of paint that permeated our newsroom. But this is a good thing. It means we're another step closer to moving in to our brand new studio.
The workers painted the curved wall that will be behind our anchor desk. They painted it white so it will reflect light back to the cameras.
The crew has been busy. They're doing a lot more than just painting. They're finishing the grid to hold the electrical and lighting equipment. Once the grid is finished, the electricians will be in next week to run the new wires to each of the new plug-in strips.
Right now, we are broadcasting all our newscasts out of a temporary studio as we anxiously await to move in to our new digs. It's been 14 years since we've had a new studio. So the smell of fresh paint is hardly an inconvenience, but it sure will be nice to smell those fresh cut flowers once again.
