Birthplace: I was born and raised in Cleveland.
Education: I grew up in Chesterland and went to West Geauga High School. I attended Kent State University’s Broadcast Journalism School and the Ohio Center for Broadcasting.
Current Position/Job Duties: News Reporter/Multimedia Journalist. I shoot, write and edit my stories that you see on NewsChannel5 every day, as well as newsnet5.com.
Previous Work Experience: My history in reporting and anchoring actually started right here at NewsChannel5. While I was in college, I interned here at NewsChannel5. Within months of graduation, I was hired here behind the scenes. I spent three years working on the news assignment desk, associate producing and assignment management. Then, I left to try my hand at “on-air” reporting/anchoring.
My first reporting job was at WTOV News9 in Steubenville, Ohio. I spent three months there, when a job opened up in Youngstown for a morning anchor. I was blessed with being hired, just an hour from home, as WYTV’s morning anchor.
After three years, I was ready to come back home. NewsChannel5 welcomed me with open arms again and I’ve been here ever since.
Joined NewsChannel5: My college internship started in 1994. I was hired back in September 2001.
Most Memorable Stories: Every story I do every day makes an impact on me. I love meeting everyone I interview. Being a “hometown girl," it means the world to me to meet people all over Northeast Ohio.
But, I have to say the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 will never leave my heart; and being the lead reporter on the Extreme Home Makeover in Maple Heights in October 2010 has also left an imprint on me forever. The Anderson Family is amazing. I was thrilled to have had the chance to work with ABC producers and be a part of Cleveland history with the national recognition of our area through that show.
News Philosophy: Always be kind, honest, fair and treat everyone I interview with the same respect I would want my family to have, if they were in front of the camera doing a story.
Role Model(s): My parents. My family. And honestly, everyone in Cleveland television. I have learned from everyone in this city, whether on television or behind-the-scenes. I’m blessed to learn something new every day, but especially from the crew here at NewsChannel5. We have amazing people here, we are truly a family.
Favorite Sports Team(s): Every single one here in Cleveland.
Favorite Music: Just about anything, but I love music that gets me moving at the gym.
Favorite Movie: Anything funny.
Favorite Foods: Take a guess! (Being 100 percent Italian, I think that’s an easy one)
Family: I’m blessed with a HUGE family and a wonderful husband. I can’t imagine growing up any other way. My family is filled with love and loyalty. I am beyond blessed with tons of aunts, uncles, and cousins. My parents and my husband are my heroes.
Pet(s): My puppy, Bella, is my baby. She is a little 7-pound white fur ball. She is a Shih-Tzu-poodle who thinks she is human. She makes me laugh every day and is my little bundle of joy.
My passion: Family, friends and NewsChannel5. Each of these things throughout my life has made me who I am today.
Hidden Talent(s): I really don’t have any. But, I really would love to be a better cook. I didn’t get much of that talent from my wonderful family who are all outstanding cooks. Any help out there?
Something most people don't know about me: I’m beyond silly. I love to laugh and be a kid at heart. I love when I see my friends from West Geauga High School after all these years and they ask me, “How do you stay serious on TV? You are too silly to be so serious.”
What I like best about Northeast Ohio: Everything. Being born and raised here, I couldn’t ever imagine working or living anywhere else.
You're most likely to see me around town: Everywhere. I don’t like to sit at home.
Additional Info: If you ever see me, please come talk to me. I love meeting new people. And if you have a story you’d like me to cover, please contact me. That’s what I’m here for and I’d be happy to talk to you.
