On Nov. 6, NewsChannel5 joined ABC in an effort to raise desperately needed dollars for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
NewsChannel5 participated in what ABC termed a "Day of Giving" by hosting a 5 On Your Side phone bank for hurricane relief.
Staffed by local Red Cross workers, the phone bank generated $12,825 during a span of 90 minutes throughout Live On Five and NewsChannel5 at 6.
Anchors Danita Harris and Lee Jordan hosted the newscasts while Chris Flanagan reported on the phone bank's progress.
"Northeast Ohioans have proven time and time again just how generous they are," states Sam Rosenwasser, NewsChannel5's Vice President and General Manager. "Our station will continue to be a catalyst when critical needs arise in communities both near and far."
