Credit Card Users To Face $90 Annual Fee

Citi is one of the first credit card companies to raise its credit card fee.

Consumer reporter John Matarese reported that www.bankrate.com said Citi is sending letters to some of its customers, informing them of a new $90 annual fee to keep using the card.

The letter states card users can opt out, and close the card instead.

Citi said this applies only to infrequent users and said if the customers charge $2,500 next year, there will be no fee.

Other cards, like Chase, are raising interest rates even on those who have never been late with a bill.

The new credit card law takes effect in stages over a six-month period.

Matarese reported credit card companies are taking advantage of that time to hit customers with all sorts of new fees and rate hikes.
