CLEVELAND -- The government is sending consumers coupons for TV digital converter boxes, and millions of people have signed up so far, but many are concerned because they haven't received their coupons yet. Some people said they signed up in January for their $40 vouchers for a DTV converter box but haven't gotten them yet.Because of the number of applicants, it is taking about two months for the government to process and mail them. However, once you receive your coupon, you need to act fast: The coupons expire 90 days after they are issued in your name.Another problem with the DTV converters is that only a few of the boxes allow low-power station signals to pass through. If you normally watch low-power stations, you need to buy a converter box with analog pass-through.Always ask at the electronics store to make sure the converter box you buy will work for you.
