AVON, Ohio -- Many people have already started cleaning the cobwebs off their grills and firing them up. It's that time of year, when the smell of barbecue fills neighborhoods and makes your mouth water. For Nate Brumfield is always grilling season. He's the kitchen manager at Bubba's-Q's World Famous BBQ in Avon. Cooking to perfection takes time, and so can cleaning. So Newschannel5 decided to put the Grill Daddy to the test. At first glance, Brumfield had some doubts, "It looks kind of weak. It doesn't look like its gonna hold up to any elbow pressure." This As Seen On TV product claims to clean with the power of steam. It uses hard work but no chemicals. The instructions say to unscrew the cap and fill it with water. During use, water drizzles out creating a hot steam. It worked well on the outer layer of saucy spill, but the bristles had a tougher time around the edges. Brumfield said, "Where the carbon is built up here it's not working as good." But the Grill Daddy has two sides, and you can use the scraper brush on top to flick away the crusty covering. While it didn't stand up to well to the commercial grill, it will likely be fine for a grill at your house, Brumfield said. An added bonus, is the fact that it's being cleaned chemical free, so it'll keep its smokey flavor. Typically it sells in stores for around $14.95.
