CLEVELAND -- Do you ever have trouble opening plastic packages? It seems like everything these days comes in some type of hard-to-open packaging. There's one product that claims it can open any kind of packaging in just one step. But NewsChannel5 wanted to know, "Does it really do that?"The product advertised on TV is called the Package Shark. It can be purchased on the Internet or at stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond for $14.99. It claims to make your life easier by opening any plastic packaging in one step. The Package Shark is basically a razor blade enclosed in a plastic holder. The one NewsChannel5 purchased also came with a pair of electric scissors and a promise that the contraption would work with ease.Reporter Kimberly Gill did a little experiment with some downtown Cleveland shoppers to find out if it worked. Larry had some trouble. There are three different adjustments and he just couldn't seem to figure it out. Once he did, he got the DVD open, but not before destroying the plastic case. Sharon had a similar problem. The commercial said it's easy and it works the first time, every time.Gary got it on the second try, and Angela seemed to have no problems. But most people said they wouldn’t buy it, because they are really being careful what they spend their money on. If you have a product you want Gill to test, e-mail her at gill@newsnet5.com.
