CLEVELAND -- A product widely advertised on television claims it can tame your tootsies by getting rid of dead skin fast and with no mess. It's called the PedEgg and it sells for about $9.99. But does it really do that?

Good Morning Cleveland anchor Kimberly Gill put the PedEgg to the test with the help of Nicole Peronne, a local woman who worked as a waitress for years. Peronne said the constant standing and moving has left the bottoms of her feet feeling sandpaper-rough.

Peronne has tried other products. "I have a little scrubber that I keep in the shower and I do that occasionally but, it's kind of wimpy," said Peronne.

She's also tried expensive pedicures, but she's looking for a quick and easy fix that isn't costly. So NewsChannel5 asked her to try the PedEgg. It's a white, egg-shaped device with what resembles a cheese grater on the bottom.

The product claims it's so gentle it can be used on a balloon. NewsChannel5 found that claim to be accurate. But does it help smooth out rough heels?

Peronne said it didn't hurt. It shaved off dead skin effectively, but got a little messy. The compartment on the device filled quickly with shavings. Peronne called it disgusting, but said she would recommend it if she didn’t have to see the left over shavings. She said her heels were indeed softer.

However, Peronne said that after she used PedEgg her feet were a little more sensitive.

She had tiny indentations in her feet that she said reminded her of a block of parmesan cheese after you grate it, but her feet are smoother.
