The tape shows the man walking behind the church and breaking into the back of eight air-conditioning units.

Minutes later, a second camera shows the thief carrying pounds of copper piping in his sweatshirt, casually trying to cross Kinsman Avenue in full view of passing cars.

Assistant Pastor Claude Williams said the act of vandalism and theft left the church with a $2,000 repair bill.

Police describe the thief as a light-skinned black man, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 150 pounds, with a thin beard.

The copper likely garnered the thief no more than $75, police said.

Anyone who recognizes the thief or has other information on the crime should call Crime Stoppers at 216-252-7463.
