10-Year-Old Killed By Car Remembered

Driver Never Found

POSTED: 12:34 pm EDT September 7, 2008
UPDATED: 1:15 pm EDT September 7, 2008

A community came together Saturday to remember a young boy who died in a hit-and-run accident three years ago.

The incident happened at Lovers Lane and Hammel Street in Akron on Sept. 6 in 2005.

Tony Swain, 10, and and his younger sister were walking to school when a car sped through the intersection.

Tony pushed his sister to safety, but the driver hit Tony and kept going.

Witnesses described the car as a maroon Thunderbird or Cougar. It has never been found.

Police developed a profile of a suspect, who they believe to be a teen, but there has not enough evidence to make an arrest.

It's also believed that the car was likely loaned to the teen, so the person who allowed the teen to borrow the car could also face charges.

If you have any information about the crime, call Summit County Crime Stoppers at 330-434-COPS. Your anonymous tip could lead to a cash reward.
