A man riding a motorcycle was killed Thursday night in East Union Township after attempting to turn around to help a stranded motorist.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Timothy Stone, of Dalton, was riding his motorcycle on US 30 around 9:30 p.m. when he spotted the car on the side of the road.

Stone pulled into the path of a Chevrolet Cavalier entering US 30 from CR 44 and was struck, trooper said.

Stone was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County coroner. The driver of the Cavalier, 38-year-old Kelly Green, of Massillon, was taken to Wayne Community Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
