CLEVELAND -- A new program is using cell phone text messaging to solve crimes in Cleveland.Cleveland police teamed up with Mayor Frank Jackson and the school district to announce a text messaging tip line. This kind of program has been successful in other cities."We have to let criminals know that if you commit a crime in Cleveland you're not going to get away with it," Jackson said. The tip line is set up like a regular text message. Tips can be sent to "CRIMES" or "27463" and after you send it, you get a confirmation text back so you know your tip was made.Like any other tip to Crime Stoppers, sending a text message that helps authorities can make you eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
