Listeria Found In Sandwich From Local Store

POSTED: 6:36 pm EDT August 27, 2008
UPDATED: 6:56 pm EDT August 27, 2008

The Ohio Department of Agriculture on Wednesday said that a sub sandwich from a Willoughby Circle K store tested positive for listeria, a dangerous food-born bacterium.

Department of Agriculture officials said no known human illness is associated with the bacteria found in the sandwich.

The company that provides the American Submarine sandwiches to Circle K stores asked all stores to immediately remove the sandwiches from their shelves.

Listeria can cause symptoms such as headache, fever, stiffness, nausea and diarrhea, but severe cases can cause miscarriages and stillborn births among pregnant women.
