UPDATED: 12:55 pm EDT August 27, 2008

A hearing in Medina County common pleas court decided Wednesday that a man who stabbed his mother to death was not sane at the time of the stabbing.

The court upheld a psychological evaluation of 26-year-old Patrick Ravas, who has already pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Police said Ravas stabbed 62-year-old Noella Ravas to death at her Hinckley home last November and then called 911 and told the operator what he had done.

A suppression hearing will be held on Sept. 19.
