A woman who was shot in the back and subsequently spent 113 days in the hospital is being released.

Shawn Stevens, 43, who is paralyzed, was walking in the Carlisle Reservation in the Lorain County Metroparks in May when she was attacked, shot in the back, stuffed in a trunk and left for dead.

She said she is looking forward to eating barbecue chicken and corn on the cob with her family this evening for dinner.

She also said she has a little feeling in her foot and is hopeful that someday she will get out of the wheelchair.

A fund was set up in her name at Fifth Third Bank.

Police have charged 25-year-old Matthew Plas in the attack.
