County Needs 7,500 Poll Workers For Nov. Election

POSTED: 4:45 pm EDT August 26, 2008
UPDATED: 4:59 pm EDT August 26, 2008

There are just over two months until voters head to the polls to vote for the next president.

While there were no major issues in Cuyahoga County during the May election, the Board of Election is concerned about whether there will be enough poll workers.

The Board of Elections is looking for 7,500 poll workers to man polling places in November.

A phone bank has been set up as a way to recruit workers. The BOE is going back to a paper-based ballot system with a scanner and elections officials said poll workers will get proper training in hopes of avoiding the kinds of problems they've seen in the past.

Training for poll workers begins Sept. 8. Those interested should call 216-443-3277.
