CLEVELAND -- A group of students came all the way to Cleveland this week to say thank you for helping their school in Haiti get off the ground.

Four boys from Haiti wanted to thank local people for building their school with money and resources from school building in northeast Ohio.

Twelve years ago, the Norton family went to Haiti on a medical mission trip and met a man who had just built a school for 30 students.

"It was like we had gone into a different world. The level of poverty was unbelievable to us," said Tom Norton.

Norton believes in fate and said it was a miracle when the Bay Village Middle School was torn down.

"We took out 600 desks. One woman went around and took every pencil sharpener out. These things are now in Haiti working hard to help educate these children," Norton said.

The Nortons joined the Coalition of Children In Need Association (COCINA), a small group of Americans spread across the country.

Together, they have built a school where more than 1,600 students attend.

Every year, they select a group of students to come to America and learn about the culture.

They are also learning the value of hard work, and that anything is possible.

The students leave Cleveland on Wednesday and will make a stop in New York City before heading back to Haiti to start the new school year.
