1 Killed In Bike Crash At Skate Park

One person was killed Tuesday when two bikes collided at an Akron skate park.

The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. at the Akron Skate Park on Derby Downs Drive, near the Rubber Bowl.

The victim was taken to Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He is identified as 33-year-old Shawn Steinmetz and the cause of death is still under investigation.

The other bicylist involved was 36-year-old Ronald Striby of Indiana. Neither Striby nor Steinmetz were wearing helmets.

Police said they believe the two were part of a group that travels around to different skate parks.
