CLEVELAND -- Want to save money? Coupons are making a comeback. But you don't have to clip them out the old-fashioned way. Technology is making it easier to get coupons on the spot.

There are plenty of Web sites that offer coupons for groceries, gadgets and gourmet meals.

Coupons are also coming to cell phones. Some carriers are offering a new application where you can get instant savings with a simple click. Verizon Wireless just rolled out "The Daily Scoop."

Sherri Cunningham of Verizon explained, "If you're a busy mom and you're trying to decide what to get for the kids for dinner and you're trying to keep your costs down, this is a great way to look at your cell phone and see what might be available in the palm of your hand."

If you subscribe to an unlimited data feature to your calling plan, downloading the "Daily Scoop" application is free. If you do not subscribe to a unlimited data feature to your calling plan, you may, depending upon your plan, incur data charges at applicable rates on either a minutes of use or megabyte basis for initially downloading the application and/or browsing other BREW applications.

The application downloads coupons free of charge and offers you the ability to receive discounts, offers and great content on your mobile phone. Graphically rich and interactive messages are delivered to your phone when it is not in use (i.e., when it is idle), in a non-obtrusive manner, and users are not interrupted while using their phone. Offers are maintained in a separate folder called the Recent Offer Menu for a few days so that you can take advantage of the great deals and discounts at your leisure.

It's currently available on 22 handsets through "Get It Now."
