NCAA Game Summary - Buffalo At Miami-Ohio

POSTED: 8:31 pm EDT November 3, 2007

(Sports Network) - Quarterback Daniel Raudabaugh completed 20-of-26 pass attempts for 259 yards and two scores to lead the Miami-Ohio RedHawks to a 31-28 win over the Buffalo Bulls in a Mid-American Conference clash at Yager Stadium.

Cory Jones paced the RedHawks (5-5, 4-1 MAC) ground game, carrying the ball 19 times for 124 yards. However, it was Thomas Merriweather who came away with the glory, carrying the ball seven times for 28 yards and two scores.

Buffalo (4-6, 4-2) was led by quarterback Drew Willy who completed 33-of-45 pass attempts for 217 yards and two scores. James Starks also had a big day for the Bulls, carrying the ball 19 times for 148 yards and a score.

Buffalo jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter when Starks ripped off a 92-yard touchdown run.

Miami made it a 7-3 game just minutes later when Nathan Parseghian drilled a 34-yard field goal.

The RedHawks took a 10-7 lead early in the second quarter when Raudabaugh found Jones for a 17-yard score.

Miami made it a 17-7 game minutes later, on a nine-yard touchdown run by Merriweather.

Buffalo answered the call in the final minute of the first half, when Drew connected with Naaman Roosevelt for a 13-yard score.

The Bulls made it a 17-17 game at the half, when A.J. Principe drilled a 33- yard field goal as time expired.

The RedHawks took a 24-17 lead early in the second half with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Merriweather.

Buffalo continued to chip away at the Miami lead, as Principe nailed a 47-yard field goal in the closing minutes of the third frame.

Miami answered on its next possession when Raudabaugh found Harris for a six-yard TD to make it a 31-20 game.

Buffalo made a last chance effort in the fourth quarter, when Willy hit Roosevelt for a three-yard score. The two-point conversion was good and the Bulls were able to draw to within three points of the lead

However, that would be the final score of the game, as the Redhawks defense forced a turnover on the Bulls next drive to preserve the three-point decision.

Following the game Miami head coach Shane Montgomery commented on his team's first-place standing in the MAC East Division.

"Obviously, it was a huge win for us today. We knew we were facing a very, very good football team today. I think that they proved that they are a good football team. We made some big plays on offense. We still missed a couple of field goals, but, overall, offensively, this is the best game we have played since Bowling Green."
