NCAA Game Summary - U-C-L-A At Oregon State

POSTED: 8:52 pm EDT October 31, 2009

(Sports Network) - James Rodgers scored on a 17-yard run with 44 seconds remaining, lifting the Oregon State Beavers past the UCLA Bruins, 26-19, in a Pac-10 thriller at Reser Stadium.

Rodgers also hauled in 10 balls for 106 yards, while brother Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 112 yards and threw for a touchdown. Jacquizz Rodgers also caught seven balls for 92 yards, and quarterback Sean Canfield had a solid game for OSU (5-3, 3-2 Pac-10), completing 25-of-34 pass attempts for 305 yards.

Quarterback Kevin Prince had a big day for the Bruins (3-5, 0-5), as he hit on 22-of-34 pass attempts for 323 yards and two scores. Nelson Rosario was his main target with six catches for 152 yards and a score, while Taylor Embree made five receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown in the team's fifth straight loss.

The lone points of the first quarter came from OSU's kicker Justin Kahut, who booted a 48-yard field goal early in the period.

The Beavers added to their lead in the second quarter, as they scored 13 points in the final six minutes to take a 16-0 lead to the break. Kahut first connected on a 42-yard field goal before Brady Camp hauled in a 14-yard touchdown pass from Jacquizz Rodgers. Kahut hit on a 27-yard field goal on the last play to cap the scoring spree.

UCLA got on the board midway through the third quarter, when Kai Forbath made a 24-yard field goal.

With just over 10 minutes to play, OSU pushed its lead to 19-3 courtesy of a 31-yard field goal by Kahut.

The Bruins, however, countered quickly, as Prince threw a 58-yard touchdown pass to Rosario before the duo hooked up again on a successful two-point conversion attempt. With just over two minutes remaining, UCLA knotted the score, as Prince threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Embree prior to hooking up with Johnathan Franklin for a two-point conversion.

The Beavers, though, would have the last say, as James Rodgers capped a 70- yard drive with a 17-yard touchdown run with 44 seconds left for the 26-19 win.

OSU outgained UCLA, 463-374, on the day, but committed 10 penalties compared to just two by the Bruins.
